Lights, Camera... You!
This project was conceived by the Columbia College Chicago/University at Buffalo team for the 2018 Imaginations Design Competition.
I served as art director for the CCC/UB team, and was responsible for story, character/environmental design, and modelling.
This year's challenge was to revitalise a real life ghost town. We chose to turn Rhyolite, NV into an immersive entertainment experience.
Team CCC/UB was a 2018 Semifinalist.

Official description:
Lights, Camera… You! is an interactive, fully immersive experience that has brought new life to the old boom town of Rhyolite, Nevada, which is now the site of a major motion picture! Spend time exploring the 21st century entertainment offerings in the Gilded City before heading off to the mid-1800s set of Midnight Tumbleweeds. But beware, something is not quite right about this town rescued from time, and you may spend more time solving mysteries than polishing your acting skills! Left: Map of Lights, Camera, You! Area, with character location key.

Our concept featured an app, which guests would use to control their experience as they moved through Rhyolite. Before their stay, Guests would have the opportunity to choose the level of their adventure, as well as make reservations and design an avatar to appear on their "credentials" - which would also serve as their room key and team marker upon arrival.
The app also served as a way for guests to stay connected with their trip when they returned home, with games, video clips and photos, and the opportunity to edit and watch their own "movie." Right: Sample avatars |
Lights, Camera... You! features two types of interactive characters:
Below is our preshow video; upon arrival to their first day in Rhyolite, each team of guests is ushered into a room by an Assistant Director to hear this important message from Cam R Adams, the director of Midnight Tumbleweeds, who starts their adventure.
